An infusion of $1.7 million in new funding will pave the way for several significant renovation projects to move forward at the Simi Valley Senior Center for the hundreds of seniors who visit the facility every week.This year, the senior center received $1 million in federal funding as one of the community projects included by Congresswoman Julia Brownley, D-Westlake Village, in the omnibus bill. The grant will be used to construct a shelter for the central courtyard patio of the senior center, allowing residents to conduct activities in the space without the risk of inclement weather or high temperatures.
