More than 11,000 Southern California Edison customers across Ventura County could have power turned off this weekend due to an upcoming Santa Ana wind event. The so-called "public safety power shutoffs" are being considered from 6 p.m. Friday through 3 p.m. Saturday. The possible cuts currently apply to circuits in Ventura, Somis, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Piru. To view which circuits are at risk of being shut off, visit sce.com/outage-center/check-outage-status. The shutoffs are meant to reduce the risk of potential brush fires igniting during critical fire conditions, Edison and other utilities say.
